Being more fruitful is biblical

John 15:2, Day 3

He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.

John 15:2, NIV

Investing into Growth

God calls us to be effective in all we do for the Kingdom of God.

'His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter the joy of your master.’... 'Therefore: take the talent away from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.

Matthew 25:23, 28, NASB

Whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Colossians 3:17

Granted, Jesus' parable and Paul's words are more specifically towards the kingdom of Heaven than it is to our modern-day marketplace, but the premise is the same. If we are known by the fruits of our labors, then our exemplary service to our clients, employees, and families will be an example to others searching for answers in a world devoid of meaning.

While we are called to explicit evangelism, we can also reach the lost through implicit evangelism.

To work our best in our distraction-laced, screen-obsessed, content-overloaded culture today, we must intentionally prune the good things so they can grow into great things.

This is a particular challenge for me. I love thinking of and trying new ideas, but what starts with great intentions ends up wasting my time. Time will tell if this newsletter is another example. 😬

We don't need to make today too complicated: invest in the things growing your business and your life. Those choices can be difficult, but the blessing you'll receive will confirm your choice if you've done so with a clear heart.

Oh! And what should you do if there is a binary choice to invest between your business or your family/church/self?

Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth.

Colossians 3:17

Memorizing His words

Each day throughout the week, we'll string short verses of Jesus' words together. Take a moment to etch them on your heart so you can take joy in His promises for you.

John 15, NIV

v14: You are my friends if you do what I command.

v4: If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

v1: I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.
